Victoria Tavern will host a fundraiser at 1 p.m. Sunday to support local musician Dave “Sparky” Sparkman in his fight against throat cancer, Victoria Tavern owner Molly Simonson said.
Over the years Sparkman has played with “just about every band passing through,” Simonson said. “His talent and likability made it easy for him to fit in with any band.”
Simonson said many people know Sparkman for his time with the Lazy Aliens Blues Band, and more recently Mo’Champipple and the Miso Horns. Over the years Sparkman has given his time to many fundraisers, she said.
Five bands will perform at the fundraiser. The Rock School will start playing at 1 p.m., and Mo’Champipple and the Miso Horns will follow before performances by Lazy Aliens Blues Band, Hayes, Epp and Bones and Chris Nasca.
“This will be an amazing day of local talent,” Simonson said.
Admission to the fundraiser costs $15 and includes an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner. The fundraiser will include a silent auction with items such as a ski pass, artwork, gift certificates and more.
Contact Simonson at 221-1022 with questions or donations.
