FIBARK!

June 14, 2011

FIBArk began in 1949 when six boats raced 57 miles of treacherous spring run off from Salida to Canon City. Over the next few years the course was adjusted to 25.7 miles from Salida to Cotopaxi, and this is the route still raced today – this Classic Downriver Race is the LONGEST whitewater race in the country!!

Since 1949 FIBArk has evolved from single race to Salida’s biggest annual event. The water is up and folks are pouring into town to enjoy all that FIBArk 2011 has to offer: from the whitewater to the hooligan races, running and mountain bike events, music in the park and of course, music at The Vic! Located downtown across from Riverside Park, The Victoria Tavern, is the only place to end up once the music in the park has wound down, or in between sets when the sun is hot and you’re ready for a cold drink! We have a full FIBArk line up for you and we think you’re going to like it:

Wednesday & Thursday: Come check out local favorites, The Groove Farmers. Their tunes are sure to pick you up and groove you on into a full-on FIBArk weekend.

Friday: YAMN. This Colorado-based quartet is sure to rock your eyes and ears. Show starts @ 10:30 pm. Cover: $5

Saturday: Judge Roughneck!!! Not gonna be able to catch them this summer at Reggae on the Rocks? Then you better come down to The Vic on Saturday night for a ska/reggae extravaganza!! Show starts @ 10:30 pm. Cover: $5
